The Notes
Laaz Rockit made some noise in the 80's with some of their heavier releases. Although they never really broke into the mainstream, they still seemed to get some attention. This release was originally released in 1987 on Enigma Records and was reissued later on Old Metal Records with some bonus demo tracks. The Old Metal Records version is the one I am reviewing although I do have the Enigma version on tape.
The Tracks
The band was really starting to develop with this album. Some fans regard this release as the bands best to date. The album opens with an intro called 'Demolition' that explodes into the angry 'Last Breath'. 'Euroshima' continues at the same heavy pace and style. 'Most dangerous game' starts a little more laid back, but builds in intensity to match the previous tracks. 'Shot to Hell' shows definite maturity in the writing. One of the best on the album. 'Say goodbye M.F.' is one of the attitude rockers. Very crunchy. 'Means to an end' is another tune structured very well. Not fast, but heavy in it's own way. 'I'm Electric' is consistent with intensity and tempo. 'Mad axe attack' speaks for itself. Guitar shredfest for just over two minutes. 'Shit's ugly' is totally over the top. Just an explosion of intensity for just over a minute and a half. Not much to it other than an interesting listen. The bonus tracks are hidden in track eleven. There are three there laid out in demo form. They sound decent although not quite the same as the album quality naturally.
Overall
Laaz Rockit was a band that progressively got better with each album. A lot of people seem to dig this particular release. I feel it is a pretty good effort that deserved more attention than it got. I also understand that this release is now out of print on Old Metal Records as well. There are still copies floating around. If you like it heavy and at times fast, pick up a copy this album before it is too hard to find.

Deschutz is an Italian band that recently contacted me concerning a demo recording that I am currently reviewing. Musically, these guys are pretty intense. There are a lot of elements here all based in metal. Let's go ahead and look at the tracks on the album.
The Tracks
The album starts with 'The Summoning'. The track lasts close to a minute and a half and sounds a bit like something Rhapsody would do. Gang vocals and majestic style music. Then it all changes with 'The glory of Caesar'. This particular track is faster and different in feel. 'Under a glacial moonlight' displays some good guitar work especially in the lead area. Lot's of tempo change. 'Mare Nostrum' is a bit faster than some of the other tracks. aggressive in the vocals in places. 'Dispersion' is an acoustic number that closes the album and clocks in just over a minute. The album is a bit short, but hey, this is a promo, right?
Overall
It's kind of hard to judge this band off of this listen, but I feel they are pretty decent. What will be a bit more effective for rating is a full length album. This band will join good company in Italy when that happens. Stay tuned....
