Fans Of The Dark-Suburbia   ©2022 Frontiers Records
Sophomore album by this very cool band who plays reminiscent of the 80's hard rock and metal bands.  This latest effort which is hot on the heels of the bands release from last year has a lot in common with that album. Songs are crafted in the same formula, the sound is similar, and to me the band sounds very comfortable. The band does continue to evolve at the same time and fans are entertained along the way.  I really dig the heavy edge the band displays. The rhythm guitar work sounds very classic, maybe back to the early 80's. Never being forgotten about is the melody that rounds each song out. Fans of The dark is a pretty unique sounding band. Sure, they have a style that has been done before, but they definitely do it proud.  I think this band should continue to do great things. This is a top notch release from a very ambitious band!

Borealis-Illusions    ©2022 AFM Records
Borealis has been on my radar for quite some time and really should be on many fans. The band writes their music with some sophistication similar to other bands like Evergrey. As I was making my way through this excellent new album,  I kept thinking that they reminded me so much of Evergrey. It's definitely a compliment and really shows that Borealis is in that next tier of metal bands. The work on this album has been going on for some time now. "The Offering' was the bands previous release from 2018 and work on this new album goes back to 2019. As fans we were all aware of the the Covid era and what it did to the industry. I believe a lot of bands created something very special in that down time.  Borealis definitely took advantage of that time and created one of the years best melodic metal albums. If you are a fan of this genre, you need to have this one!

Adrian Weiss-Dangerous Discipline  ©2022  Adrian Weiss
Adrian Weiss returns with another instrumental album showcasing why he is so good at this type of thing.  The feat of any instrumental album is to get things done minus vocal work, but keep everything interesting with all of the instrumentation. Songs have to be well crafted and have that extra interest factor. Adrian does a great job of this and always has. He showcases great songwriting and discipline. Shredding is done where it is needed and the songs are presented in a way where the song is king as a whole. There is no doubting his ability either. The talent is their with each album, but due to the way the album is delivered it ends up feeling very cohesive. We don't look at a lot of instrumental albums these days, but some of these artists who do them right are always worth discussing. You will find good balance here and very good songs!

Ginevra-We Belong To The Stars   ©2022 Frontiers Records
Ginevra came together recently with some well known musicians from other bands such as Seventh Crystal's Kristian Fyhr, Primal Fear and The Ferryman guitarist Magnus Karlsson, H.E.A.T.'s Jimmy Jay, and Magnus Ulfstedt from Nordic Union. It's a star studded lineup and the sum of these parts is a great band and album. The style they play is an atmospheric and melodic hard rock sound that sometimes hints toward a more metal feel. Songs are really good. Chez Kane shows up as a guest vocalist on the track Masquerade and does a great job.  The two vocalists compliment each other really well. Overall, the album just has great songs. Bringing all of these musicians together really has given great results. Frontiers does this type of thing a lot and it really does offer great music to the rock community. Excellent album with well crafted music!

The Hu-Rumble Of Thunder   ©2022 Better Noise Music
Here is one of the most unique bands in the metal community today. You will be hard pressed to find others quite like these guys. The band are Mongolian and embrace many of the instruments that are usually found in more traditional music in their part of the world. They also have a 'throat' vocal element that further adds to their uniqueness. I actually was turned on to these guys with their previous album 'The Gereg'.  I wasn't sure what to think initially, but man, did I find a passion for them after.  'Rumble Of Thunder' really does continue where the band left off with the previous album. That same catchy nature of each song is here once again. There is even a bit more atmosphere here and there with this latest album. Tracks like 'Black Thunder' show where the band can go while songs like 'Triangle' keep a more catchy mainstream feel.  Really unique stuff!
